What are the default restrictions on User Names when registering with GL? Thanks

character restrictions(such as :,_,$,&,*,[,^,",/,), length restrictions, etc...what are all of the restrictions on new user name sign ups?

There aren't really any restrictions. If you want to impose some, you can plug in your own custom registration functions and reject the ones you don't want.

Not even the number of characters you can use? Like someone can't sign up with a name using 100 characters in their name, can they?

Oh, right - the database field for usernames is limited to 16 characters.

Ok, so I'm assuming all character types are acceptable with the only restriction being 16 characters long. Thank you

The characters that really should not be used in a user name would also follow the non character directory/file name scheme. IE: \ / : : * ? " < > | These characters are used in programming language and have a certain meaning for them within the code. Some characters, all these and possibly there are more that can be considered illegal in a name space convention. However, in geeklog, I have not tried to make a name with any of these characters. The only characters that should be used as a user name should consist of only 0-9, a-z and same for passwords with mixed numbers and characters.

But these characters can be used if someone were to try and register within GL using them, correct?
