Can't back up DB

Hi
just can't back up the geeklog db of my site.
I receive the following error message:

An error has occurred:
2 - filemtime() [function.filemtime]: Stat failed for /home/moviments/permacultura-es/public_html/backups/geeklog_db_backup_2006_09_30.sql (errno=13 - Permission denied) @ /home/moviments/permacultura-es/public_html/admin/database.php line 57

Is it related to access privileges for my site home my directory?

Did it create the file? If it didn't check the permissions on your "backups" directory (as explained in the installation instructions).

No it didn't create the file.
As for the permissios it has rwx for the owner/group and rw for public
When I put rwx for public as well then it works, but I guess public shoul not have the "x" priviledge.

On the other hand the group name assigned to the group is "ftpgroup" and I am nost sure this value may have anything to do with it

Geeklog is kicking off the mysqldump utility, i.e. in the end that is running under the same user as the webserver. So the "backups" directory needs read, write, and execute permissions for the webserver's user.
