I have tried several ways to get the javascript to work in the blocks but no luck....all I get is a blank space.

I prefer not to call other files as I would like the javascript to be inserted directly into the block itself. It basically starts as <SCRIPT..... No spaces before as that is the first thing in the block.

Any suggestions on how to get the javascript to work properly would really be appreciated.

Try putting <SCRIPT...> in the header.thtml

Does the script work in a straight HTML page? What GL version, theme and maybe an example of the JS that you are using. Just saying that it doesn't work doesn't work. In order to help you we need more info.
