Recently i made db backup and noticed that db was 5 times bigger than last backup , not month ago. I dont know nothing about databases but it looked wierd since site is not so much updated . I opened database with just text editor and noticed that it is full of entries from bad behavior, urls blacklisted and that kinds of stuff related to bad behavior 2.11
So is this normal , and if it is not what is the cure ?

So how many entries do you have for Bad Behavior? Check the number behind the Bad Behavior entry in your Admin menu.

FWIW, we currently have about 6000 entries here on geeklog.net and I've seen it go up to 8000 and more. Those are automatically deleted after a while, so you don't need to do anything about it.

Remember: Those are requests to your site that BB blocked. At least some of those were attempts to post spam, others were hacking attempts. I'm afraid this is "normal" these days - the web isn't a nice and cozy place any more ...

bye, Dirk

Currently, the number of hits has subsided for now. My numbers have gone as high as almost twenty thousand entries. However, now they are back down to around two thousand. I can credit a good portion of that to a spammer that was operating out of a ISPServer located in London. They are now terminated as of a few days ago. So I think it'll be awhile before we see any huge spikes again. Anyone interested in seeing what we do about spammers, float on over to our site and read about how we do it. The work is not easy, and sometimes pain-staking in tracking these criminals down. If you feel our service to the net community is worth it to you, let us know. We accept all comments and donations.
