Don't know what happened or why, but this morning all of a sudden the system won't let me put images into the articles. I tried using the "standard" [image] tag, as well as to use Media Gallery [media]. Apparently the system is getting stuck trying to find the image on my base computer. I get the following error message:

Check the permissions on your images/articles directory.

Could it be a space/quota issue?

And you should still check your permissions, your hosting provider may have modified them without telling you.

Don't think it's space or quota - I'm on a dedicated server and moved there specifically to give myself virtually unlimited headroom.

I think it has to do with this -

The only thing that changes when I try to upload different photos is the part that says:

Unable to move '/tmp/phpwBQ11m'

Where is that? Meaning, the file after /tmp/...

Whoops. I just noticed that the little problem that I thought I had is actually a whole lot bigger. Looking back over all of the articles I have posted (5,437) the images are no longer there in any of them. Yikes?

Are the image files still there?

From here, this looks more like a permission issue. For example, for the article at http://www.panama-guide.com/article.php/20071210170330275 I get a 403 when trying to load the image http://www.panama-guide.com/images/articles/20071210170330275_2.jpg

Ok. I asked the system to generate a new backup yesterday and it generated a file larger than 2GB. The existence of that file did, in fact, put me over the limit for disk space on the server. I am now clearing off older backups and other files that I no longer need, downloading the new backup file (to remove it from the server) and I'm now back under the limit for disk space. But, the problem persists...

What might have tripped in this scenario? And, how might I "un-trip it".

Ah ha!

The problem was a combination of the two things. By creating the backup file I went over disk space quota. I downloaded the backup file, deleting it and other unnecessary files off of the server and got well back under the limit, but the problem was still there.

I had checked the permissions for /images/articles/ and they were good, but I "toggled" the permissions, turned them off and then back on again.

For some reason that worked, and now all of the images are back in the articles.
