Static pages, content lost!

Help, where are the contents for the static pages hidden within the GL installation? My site is down and I just did tons of work on the site. Looks like something happened to the index.php. This is the message I receive when trying to open the site on the net: Unfortunately, an error has occurred rendering this page. Please try again later.
Is all lost or is there a way to fix this problem or at least give me the chance to retrieve the content on the static pages?

I wish that was the case. It didn't work and I had to reinstall GL through the Cpanel. Is there a way to find the content on the unzipped backup that also didn't work?

The static page content is in your database. If there's something wrong with the files, the database should be unaffected. Perhaps you should tell us what happened more explicitly, step-by-step.
