Hello, I've recently installed the geek log forum 2.7 and for some reason when I click on plugins under the user admin it shows no forum plugin. I have checked everything and i've isntalled everything correctly. I put the lib_portalparts.php file in the sytem folder under plublic_html .. and installed all the directory's properly... but it's not working.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Gabe

Hey there sp0oon, I'm a noob with GL also and just installed Forum 2.7 plugin into my GL v1.4.1. without a hitch.
First of all the lib-portalparts.php needs to be placed in your geeklog directory where all the other lib files are not in public_html area. I'm not sure if this is the only problem with your installation.
Do you see the install forum plugin link in your admin plugin section of your site? I'f not you may have placed the new directories from the plugin install in the incorrect position.
You should have these directories made:
1) FTP the uncompressed forum directory(forum directory & everything contained within it) or Uncompress the archive files from your forum plugin into yoursite/geeklog/plugins directory. It will create a forum subdirectory in yoursite/geeklog/plugins directory for the files.
2) In the public_html directory of your site you should have made a directory called "forum" here you copy the files (contents) from the new plugin's public_html directory to the forum directory you just created under your sites main public_html directory.
3) In the public_html/admin/plugins of your site Create a directory called forum here you copy the files (contents) from the new plugin's admin directory to the forum directory you just created under your sites main public_html/admin/plugins directory.
4) And then copy the directory called forum and contents from the new plugin's themefiles directory to each of your sites theme's directory if you have more than one theme.
5) The plugins from portalparts use a number of common functions that are placed in the lib-portalparts.php file. Copy the file from the plugin archive to your system folder where there are other lib-xxxxx.php files which is your geeklog/system folder.
Look into these directories above and verify they are in place and the correct files are within them match with the uncompressed forum plugin. If these directories above are in the wrong place Geeklog will not see the forum plugin to install in your admin plugin's section of your site.
then you still need to read and follow the rest of the readme.html document included with the forum plugin you downloaded.
Hope this helps,
Dennis

I will show you how I install my forum plugin on my geeklog site.
the forum plugin download folder have a 4 folder and 1 file that you have to ftp to your server.
1/- upload -whole forum folder- to the- geeklog-plugin folder.(you will see 5 or more plugin folder over there such as: poll, calendar, links, spamx, and etc.)
2/- upload the public_html folder (all files that under this folder only) to the the geeklog/public_html folder(incase there is no public_html folder, you have to rename the public_html folder to=forum)
3/-upload -Admin folder-( you have to rename to -forum) to geeklog/admin folder.
4-upload-forum folder under-themefiles- to-profesional theme folder.
5/-upload-lib-portalparts.php file under system to geeklog/system folder.
*and log in to Admin cpanel you will see -new plugin-install-there!
