Hi,
I help look after a geeklog site that has a 4images gallery integrated - the site needs an update as does the gallery so I am in the process of updating everything to the latest version.
The current 4Images version is 1.7 the geeklog version is 1.3.8-1sr4
Does anyone know if it is ok to upgrade to the current 1.75 version of 4Images?
Thanks in advance.

The 4images integration for Geeklog is no longer maintained. IIRC, it required quite a few changes in the core code to get it to work. So I'd say the chances are slim that it will still be working after an upgrade (at least not integrated - 4images would probably run just fine alongside Geeklog).
I'd suggest looking into converting to one of the other galleries/integrations that are still actively maintained, like MediaGallery or the G2Bridge (to Gallery 2).
bye, Dirk

There is a way of importing from 4images to Media Gallery:
http://www.gllabs.org/wiki/doku.php?id=mediagallery15:importing#images_import
I'm not sure about the options available for Gallery 2 though.

FYI - the original 4Images hack still works with the current 4Images version. (1.7.5)
I installed a new version of the code but retained the existing gallery database information (the changelog shows that there are no database modifications from previous version)

D'OH - my bad...
It does work - as stated - but with geeklog version 1.3.8 (forgot I hadn't got around to updating the main site code).
However...
It will also still work with the latest version (1.4.1) - the only problem is that the snippets of code used to identify where to make the modifications in the Geeklog code have changed so you will need to have an understanding of the code to know where to put the mods.
Ideally the hack needs to be rewritten, it is, at best, very un-elegant. (even more ideally Geeklog should have some comments in the code).
If anyone fancies updating the hack and wants the updated geeklog files, shoot me a mail.
