Hello. I am from Ukraine.
I have a site , that is using Geeklog 1.3.8. In one moment happened something strange problem: i can't submit a new story, edit old one, enter to the page of some story. Also, i can't turn page in administrators list of stories.
Can anyone say anything about ths problem?

Geeklog 1.3.8 is very old and insecure - please update it as soon as possible.

Check that you're still a user in the Root group (or Story Admin group, if you weren't Root to begin with).

Do you get any messages when trying to access the story administration pages? What do they say?

I can acces administrator page. But when i want edit something(profile of users, story or something else) it redirect page to the top of administrator page. When i want to write a new story, it redirect me to the list of stories, but only to the first page.

P.S. Would theme of Geeklog 1.3.8 work at 1.4?

Okay, please excuse that I can't remember every detail of how Geeklog 1.3.8 behaved (it's almost 5 years old!). Sounds like you only have some admin rights but not all of them.

I'd suggest creating a new Root user and then try to use that new account to repair the old one.


To answer your other question: No, 1.3.8 themes will not work with 1.41. You can either update them or see if you can't find an updated theme similar to the one you were using over on our demo site (follow the link to the Visual Switcher for download links).

Really thank, but it doesn't help me. Nobody can even look any story fully. it redirect to index.php.

Ah, so there may be a rather simple explanation: Geeklog 1.3.8 requires register_globals = On. It's possible that someone (your hosting service?) switched it to = Off.

If this happens right out of the blue ask your hoster if he changed any settings! There is hardly any other reason for this.

Thanks everybody. There were some changes in server configuration and they switched globals off.

So, I have next question))

Would Geeklog 1.4 correct update Geeklog 1.3.8(whis it's own theme, and some other changes) whith globals off? I can't lost lots of stories.

Yes, Geeklog 1.4.1 works with register_globals "off".
