Does anyone here run a news agency that provides news to bigger news companies?

i am not looking for new. Its the opposite
I am thinking of breaking into this industry. My background is that of a software engineer.
So i am thinking if i can turn that into a business? providing news or content and they getting it suscribed at a cost?
What do you think? News would be say environemnt, region specific?
I am already running blog/news style site?
