Hi, a user just emailed me on myspace saying that he was trying to email me through my geeklog powered site. He said the message came up "this user prefers not to be emailed." So I went to my settings and saw that under privacy "email from users" was not checked. So, I checked it... When I hit save information, this error came up... An SQL error has occurred. Please see error.log for details.

Why would this happen? I'm not too savvy on error logs, but I could find it if necessary. The site has worked perfectly up til now, so I'm not sure what is wrong. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
B

By the way, I just went in to my panel and tried to find my logs... This is the last bit of it. Hopefully this will help figure out what's up...

This refers to Geeklog's error.log file (in the logs directory), not your webserver's logfile (from which you quoted).

Please quote the entry or entries from Geeklog's error.log for the time when you ran into the problem.

Hi Dirk.. I'm looking everywhere... Well obviously not everywhere since I can't find it... But where is the logs directory exactly?

Thanks

Usuall /path/to/geeklog/logs, i.e. in the same directory as your config.php. Unless you've been using Fantastico to install the site, then it's in the same directory as your lib-common.php (where it shouldn't be, but that's another story).

Thanks..... I believe this is it...

Okay, "phonenumer" is not something that Geeklog would ask for. Did you install any add-ons recently that would use a phone number entry? Or played around with the custom registration?

Looks like that add-on is either not properly installed or not properly uninstalled.

I think "properly uninstalled" is the key. Blaine added a phone number field to the registration process. I found out later that I didn't have access to the phone numbers of the users, so I removed it. DIdn't see the point of having them enter it if I couldn't access it. So I took it out. I remember doing it and took it out in two places. I must've missed something. Where else would I have to edit out this info?

Thanks a lot...

Not knowing what Blaine added there, I'll have to guess. It's either a plugin, in which case it would show up in the list under the Admin's Plugin panel. Or (more likely) it's using the custom registration API, in which case there's some code in your lib-custom.php that's still being called.

Most likely candidate: CUSTOM_userSave. See if you have such a function in your lib-custom.php and if you do, comment it out.

bye, Dirk
