I don't know if this has been requested yet. I'd like Geeklog to automatically save story edits every few minutes. Google documents does this and I would think a similiar setup could be done.

Is this possible for the next big release?

Find the "report a bug" link in the support section on the left and enter this as a feature request in the tracking system. Forum posts are often forgotten. But the bug tracker is referenced when looking for new features to be implemented.

That`s an interesting feature to think about. Where would Geeklog save the story before it actually saves it into the MySQL, on the user`s hard disk? Would that be a cookie with all the information or a .tmp-file ?

I tink the latest versions of FireFox seem to save the screen contents in a case of a browser crash. I found this very helpful.

I assume it would save it to mySQL using AJAX to save without user intervention. It would work kind of like the draft checkbox but no one but you would see the story until you did your own save. You would have one unsaved story slot and as long as there was text in that slot, every time you went to the story editor or submission page, the text there would be displayed by default. Hitting the save/submit or cancel buttons would clear the autosave area.

...or just actually save it as a draft only without exiting the screen.
