Hi all

I want to change the password for my GL install's mysql user. I can do this easily at the mysql end, but I'm not sure what to do at the GL end. I'm using 1.4.1. Could someone please point out what I need to do to generate the password string that goes into config.php (if that is all I need to do)?

The MySQL user's password in config.php is simply the password - it's not encrypted or anything (which is one of the reasons why we always recommend to have the config.php outside of the webroot ...).

bye, Dirk

You change the MySQL password e.g. in your cpanel webspace configuration.

1000ideen - thanks, I already had that bit figured out. Smile

Dirk, much appreciated. This is a Fantastico install, so with 1.5.0 released I figured it was time to put things right with a manual install and was getting everything ready. The password is set to something random looking, so I was thinking it was encrypted somehow. It looks like my webhost has mysql access locked down on the command line, which is why I was thinking I was using the wrong password. Thanks again for the help and the great software.
