unable to serialize .. path_pear

Hello,
I am getting the common RFC822.php error. I went through the documentation and did the have_pear true/false test. I have checked my cPanel and the PEAR packages have been installed.
On having a look at the error log, I found the following message:
Is there any way I can verify whether the PEAR package is installed correctly? Also, is there any way I can check if ini_set is available to be called?
Please help.

Worked it out, the string count was 48 instead of 58...
