I like to ask this question 2 or 3 times a year to see what cool features or major bugfixes will make it to the next release(s).
I just read through the release notes for 1.5.2rc1 so I'm up to speed on What's New. Anything major going to be added or changed, or are most things this year just minor bug fixes?
I also saw a bug fix for the Forum code. Anything new going to be added to the Forum, or are we pretty much running on a stable release here on out?

The best way to stay up to date on future changes is to monitor the geeklog-devel list (use the list archives if you don't want to subscribe). I've posted some of our plans here, here, and here recently.
To summarize: Next stop after 1.5.2 is 1.6.0, which will include the results of last year's Summer of Code, i.e. migration assistant in the install script, plugin installation through uploads, improvements in comments and search.
We're also preparing for the next Summer of Code. Should we get accepted, we will be in a better position this year to roll any enhancements made by our students into the mainline much faster, thanks to Mercurial.
As for smaller items like bugs and feature requests - please make use of our bugtracker. It also has a "roadmap" feature, which should give you an idea about the things we're considering for the next release.
bye, Dirk

Themes
A new themes maker call PurePro in the spirit of chameleon is on the table. You can see it in action on geeklog.fr (choose purepro in the theme switcher) and you can change the site color set.
Functions for admins are :
Change layout
Change menu
Change block style
Change color set
Manage logo (text and image)
Change font family
Change font size
Add online custom css (allow css overwriting: change header or foorter color...)
In work :
Download new sets from a repository.
Big blocks (new php blocks)
PurePro wil be available as a premium plugin.
Plugins
Dokuwiki new version is on the road.

Oh, I used to be on that... way back before my email address changed. I'm back on it now.

What is the target date for 1.6.0? Is it worth waiting for, or should I go ahead and start re-designing the site around 1.5.2?

I'd really like us to have a finished 1.6.0 ready by the time the Summer of Code officially starts. That would either be end of April (so-called Community Bonding Period) or end of May (start of coding) at the latest. The first milestone would be a beta in early March.
But then again, my estimates for release dates have often been off - so take this with a huge portion of salt ...

Okay cool. You didn't mention anything about the theme/template system changing again, so as far as site design goes, should I be okay with rebuilding on 1.5.2 and transitioning to 1.6.0 when its ready?
