Hi, I noticed when I sticky 1 post, it stays at the top of that forum area... But is there any possible way to have something stick on my main page forum block? So it's always right at the top of my main page? I sticky'd a post but it still moves down the list on the centerblock when any other post is made.

Thanks a lot!

How will he help you if it's not his plugin? Besides, the plugin has its own forum.

Plugin? I thought the ability to show the last 1-10 forum board posts on the main page of the site was just part of the geeklog system? I don't recall adding anything to make that happen. No?

The only part that isn't part of the plugin is that "what's new" block. It wouldn't make sense to stick a sticky from 2004 in "What's New in the last X days", right?

Actually, I use my site for comedians in socal to sign up for open mics and I have the last 5 or 6 forum posts right at the top of the the site on the main page. I wanted a sticky topic right there at the top with all the open mic and forum board rules, never to move. That's what stickys are for... Most forums have them at the top with rules etc...

Actually, our anonymous friend here is right: Geeklog only provides an API so that plugins can display something in a block on the front page (centerblock). What the plugin then puts into that block is up to the plugin.

I don't think the Forum plugin has an option for sticky posts in a centerblock. Try asking Blaine.

bye, Dirk

Hello Kilerb,

You could set a static page with the link to your sticky post just above your forum center block.

Thanks Ben! Is that easy to do? I'm not familiar with static pages etc... I pretty much made this site because of Blaine's event manager plugin for open mic sign ups. If it's not too much trouble, could you explain how to do it?

Thanks a lot!

You will learn a lot about static pages from the doc pages.

Thanks,

Thanks... I'm working through the static page docs now. Just out of curiosity, would putting a link above the centerblock forum posts also LOOK like a forum post? Like the rest of them? Or will it just be a text link to my forum post?

Thanks...

It would be seperate from the forum block, either above or below it depending on how you setup the staticpage.

If you know html you could make it look like another forum block.
