2 possible issues....
I've had a few complaints lately that new users never got their confirmation email. It's not in their junk mail or inbox. Any reason that might've started happening?

Also seems like some aren't getting emails to "all logged in users" lately. I'm up to 380 or so users. Is that high? Maybe why it's not as reliable on those? I have two user id's on the site and I've always gotten any email i've sent twice. Last time I only got one.

Thanks...

When I was having the same issue, it turned out my emails were being refused on the other end due to a missing PTR record on my site's DNS.
Its a simple return of address so to speak.
In Plesk manage your domain's DNS and add a PTR for your site's mail server.

The way Geeklog is sending emails hasn't really changed over the last couple of releases. So it could very well be something on your server's end that has changed here.

Having said that: It seems to help sometimes to configure Geeklog to use SMTP to send emails. Also, you can change the text of the welcome email, in case it ends up in spam filters.

As for mass emails: That's a separate issue. On the one hand, some hosters try to block sending of many identical emails. The other problem here is that Geeklog wasn't really made for mass-emailing. So when you reach a certain number of emails (depends on the limits of your hosting account), you may run into timeouts. In the latter case, it's possible that some users (those with low uids) get the emails, while others don't.

bye, Dirk

Thanks guys...

So if Geeklog says "375 successes, 0 failures" it still might not make it to everyone right? What service would you suggest using to email people? I like that I could use html on geeklogs service and include an graphic header etc...

Brian, did you not try my Newsletter plugin?
It does not use geeklog's email functionality.

That means that at least from Geeklog's point of view they were all sent out successfully (none of the timeouts I mentioned above). So whatever happened to those 375 emails happened outside of Geeklog's responsibility.

As for alternatives: We had a GSoC project last year where we tried to interface with Mailman. The idea was to try and use Mailman for mass emails. That didn't work out since the Mailman guys didn't finish their REST API in time. Not sure what the current status of that API is.

bye, Dirk
