I never installed the filemanagement plugin but I suppose it uploads the files to a subdirectory in the the webroot. I just wondered why uploads are not being hidden away from the webroot?

Gallery2 and also Moodle both consequently store uploaded files without direct access.

Would that be worthwile a feature request?

I`d also like "Expiring Links" - links that can only be downloaded a certain number of times or that expire on a certain date.

If you check out the download section on Blaine's site, you'll notice that he's using a new plugin for that. It seems to be serving the files from outside the webroot.

Not exactly the same, but one of the many unfinished plugins I have here can send you an email with a download link that only works once. That (and a "valid until ..." link) is pretty easy to do, actually.

bye, Dirk

Strange, I could not see anything with FireFox and Win. What technology is this?

I use Knoppix and Iceweasel now.

Hm, when I see JavaScript then I`m not so fond of it. What do you think of a hidden upload directory without JavaScript?

On the other hand I just noticed that Gallery2 supports a lot of file types if imagemagick and ffmeg is installed on the server: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Features#Supported_MIME_Types

Gallery 2 stores all the files off the webroot. So this would be an ideal combination.

Does anybody know if there is an expiring link to an item in Gallery2 ?
