Two questions about multi-lingual support

Hello,

I am using the multilingual support now.

(1)
When $_CONF['languages'] is set, I can not search articles but staticpages.

(2)
I want to switch the language of the sentences on the footer.
But I can not use php in footer.thtml to do that.


Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There was some code for a language switch block. Maybe someone can give a hint?
