The new GL 1.8.0 has a sub-sub devision of the configuration pages.

Before there was one file config.php. Then with the new system there are several pages and I had terrible problems remembering where what had been configured. Now there is a sub-sub devision (blue tabs) which break down the old 1 page to uncountable numbers of pages.

The worst thing is there is no "show all" like in the story editor`s page.

Please make a "show all" button!

Good, I had not noticed the search!

But on the other hand, if it is so difficult to find things there, why not make a check box "show all" ? This would be my favorite. Ticking this box would prevent the sub-sub division with the blue tabs or the sub-sub-sub devision ( right hand "more" ) if the screen is small permanently.

The "More" thing certainly needs some tweaking. Part of it can be done in the language files, simply by using shorter texts for the tabs. And in other cases, the "More" is just an indication that we tried to cram too many options into one page and that they should really be separated / reorganized.

bye, Dirk

I really can`t live with the sub-sub devision of the configuration pages. More things are being hidden than visible. This was a bad idea without a "show all" button.

Is there any hack how to turn that off in the theme or javascript?

Adding the tabs was the next logical step. Our old configuration pages where way to long, I could never find anything. The tabs divided things up logically and the search makes finding config attributes very easy.

A few things could be tweaked here and there of course, but over all I like it much better.

We could add in a config option that disables the tabs, you would just have to put in a feature request for it.

One of the next possibilities. I`d have done it with several colours, headlines and maybe symbols. I bet that you will much easier memorise where something was.

For example the subdevision of "theme" into 'theme' and 'Advanced Settings'. Sure this is logical but what for?

The subdevision of "Images" looks o.k. at first glance but the tabs only have 2,3 and 5 settings. Why subdevide? The "users" tab has 24 settings.

"Miscellaneous" certainly needs some subdevision but even here I`d not have done it with hiding settings but rather with different colours etc.

The search certainly helps, especially if you know what to search for. As a developer you have an idea but as a newbe you maybe lost.

Yes, but I wanted to discuss it here before. It would certainly help to have this checkbox with "show all" and maybe also do the same with the other pages like story editor and personal settings. Any other ideas?
