I've closed all possibilities to enter data into my site.
That is, for links, stories, comments and even to view stats, one needs to login first.
User registration is disabled too. So, it is my castle!!
Wrong! In the stats I see on a regular basis that a spam post was deleted. This count is increasing. The spams log shows the event and refers to user 1.
I do fear that posting IS possible, despite settings. The trick to do so seems to be used only by spammers? (which get caught by spams until now).
Why do the scripts for stories, comments, links etc allow for posting anonymously?
Why is the conf-setting, that login is required, ignored? I.e. why isn't the group "logged in users" not checked when the conf-setting says so?

Are you still allowing Trackbacks and Pingbacks? Those get spammed, too.
Generally speaking, the idea behind a Geeklog site is usually to invite people to participate - that's why our defaults are pretty "open". Maybe it's time to reconsider this, though.
bye, Dirk

Thanks for the hint on trackback and ping back. I've disabled them.
The idea of my site is that I want to create fresh content before releasing it to the public.
And my idea of "the public" for this site is registered (and professional) users only. Though the content may be read by anyone, including robots.
The stats saying how many spam post are deleted will frighten "my" public away.
