My first thought is that site doesn't have the updated pear libraries used by Geeklog. The last time we updated the libraries was when OAuth was added back in 2013 I believe.
Is this an older site you are updating?

This might be a server issue because the problem happen on old sites Geeklog 1.8.2 or on new ones with Geeklog 2.1.1.
