Ok, I download the tarball, extract and edit the config.php file. I cp -rf ~http/ after renaming public_html to htdocs because that is the base directory.. I also create the user and database and set password in mysql and import content to database no problem.. but when I go to www.wastelandranger.org/index.php it doesn't seem to be reading from the config.php file to tell where everything is.

Seems to be missing some files. like lib-common.php:
wastelandranger:/usr/local/src/tmp/geeklog-1.2.5-1/public_html (13)# ls lib-common.php
ls: lib-common.php: No such file or directory

For the comment above:
If this is 1.2.5-1 then there shouldn't be a lib-common.php...it's still called common.php
For main thread:
Change the path to config.php in either common.php or lib-common.php based on whether you use 1.2.5-1 or 1.3 respectively.
The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

I personally don't like using public_html in Geeklog. I don't have the public_html directory on my server, so when I want to configure the scripts, I have to manually edit out the hard coded references to public_html.
